Leciester City continued their good form to go through to the third round of the Capital One Cup against Bury. Debuatant Joe Dodoo was the hero with a hat-trick. He gave the foxes the lead with a left foot strike then set up Andrej Kramaric to make it 2-0 just before half-time. Danny Meyer’s through ball allowed Nick Pope to pull one back for the Lancashire side and give them hope of an upset comeback but two goals in the final four minutes from Dodoo sealed a 4-1 scoreline for the high flying Premier League side.
League 2 Notts County gave Premier League side Aston Villa a big fright at Villa Park before eventually going down in extra time. A long range effort from Genaro Snijders gave the Magpies a surprise lead before Jack Grealish set up Adama Traore to equalise. Just before the break Villa defender Mark Bunn brought down Izale McLeod and John Stead put away the penalty to give Notts a shock lead at the break.
Scott Sinclair leveled for Villa after 52 minues set up by more good work from Grealish but again County came back with Graham Burke getting his second in two games from range after Villa failed to clear a corner.Again though Notts failed to keep the lead with Keiran Richardson brought down in the area with 13 minutes to go and Sinclair got his second from the penalty spot. 3-3 after 90 minutes Villa’s class told in Extra Time. Joe Cole assisted Sinclair to get his hat-trick on 99 minutes and Joe Bennett added a fifth with ten minutes to go. A brave effort from County, but it is Villa who go through to the next round.
