Power batting gets Sri Lanka back in the series

Sri Lanka hit back in the 5 match series with New Zealand winning a big 8 wicket victory at the Saxton Oval, Nelseon, ending New Zealand’s 12 match ODI winning run in the process. New Zealand batted first with captain Kone WIlliamson top scoring with 59. A steady but not spectacular innings saw New Zealand score 276 with five players scoring over 30 but nobody going on to make a big score.

In reply Sri Lanka wasted no time with Danushka Gunathilaka scoring a quick fire 65 off 45 balls including 4 sixes. AFter he went Tillakaratne Dilshan with 91 and Lahiru Thirimanne with 87 not out anchored Sri Lanka into a winning position and they got the target with 22 balls to spare. New Zealand still lead 2-1 but this will give Sri Lanka confidence going into the 4th game at the same ground in the New Year.
