Soccer Update – Tottenham Hotspur v Leicester City

FA Cup 3rd Round

Late Kane penalty forces replay and saves Spurs

Leicester City earned a reply against Tottenham Hotspur but will be disappointed not to have won it after holding the lead up until the 88th minutes. Christian Eriksen had put Spurs ahead scoring from a rebound when Leicester keeper Kasper Schmeichel could only parry a shot from Nacer Chadli. However despite having very little possession in the first half they drew level on 19 minutes Marcin Wasilewski headed home a Demarai Gray corner to equalise.

It remained level until half-time when Leicester manager brought on Shinji Okazaki to great effect. within three minutes he beat two defenders and scored at the second attempt after keeper Michel Worm kept out the first effort but not the second as Okazaki put the away side into the lead. Tottenham brought on Harry Kane and Deli Alli to try and turn things around and were saved when the referee gave a penalty for a handball by Leicester’s Nathan Dyer with two minutes to go. Harry Kane stepped up to score and force a reply back at the King Power which will be a week on Tuesday or Wednesday.
