First title in two years for Azarenka

Victoria Azarenka appears to be finding her best form as she swept aside German Angelique Kerber in impressive fashion in Brisbane. Azarenka controlled the match from the start dropping only four games to claim her first title since claiming victory in Cincinnati in 2013. Kerber who has made adjustments to her serve struggled with the pressure Azarenka put on her with four breaks of serve through the match. Azarenka also won the Australian Open that in 2013 when she last took a title, can she do it again? on this form, she just might

Radwanska Continues fine form in 2016

Poland’s Agnieszka Radwanska added another title in Shenzhen, China by comfortably defeating American Alison Riske in straight sets. Radwanska served nine aces and stepped up saving two break points in the first set, she broke Riske three time throughout the match and is due to move up to 4th in the rankings after the win, adding the Shenzhen Open to titles she won in Tokyo and the WTA Finals in Singapore at the back end of 2015. Despite the defeat it was a good week for Riske who is currently 99th in the rankings and should rise higher as a result of getting through to the final

Stephens takes title in Auckland despite long day on the courts

Due to rain in Auckland Sloane Stephens had to complete her Semi-Final against Caroline Wozniacki before coming out again to defeat Germany’s Julia Gorges in the Final. The key came in the 11th game when, despite missing tow chances to break, Stephens earned a third and took it to take a 6-5 lead which she converted to take the first set. She then comfortably took control in the second to win her second title. Her mum was there watching on, Stephens commented afterwards she was not at the first tournament she won so it was great she could be there to see this one.
