Moon Soccer update – Liverpool v Man U

Premier League

Set piece defending lets Liverpool down again

Liverpool were left to rue missed chances and their set piece defending as Manchester United stole the three points at Anfield. Liverpool had the better of the first half with Roberto Firmino, Adam Lallana and Jordan Henderson all failing to take opportunities to give Liverpool the lead while they were on top.Henderson certainly should have done better after being out through by Jame Milner but dragged the shot wide.

United did not have a shot on target in the first half and Liverpool’s dominance continued early in the second with Emre Can bring a great save from David De Gea. The goal came 12 minutes from time with Marouane Fellaini  heading a Juan Mata corner against the bar and Wayne Rooney reacting first to volley home the rebound. Liverpool made changes to go two up front but never looked like getting the equaliser. A smash and grab win for United puts them back in the top four race, Liverpool did not do enough and are eight points away from a top four place and look as far away as ever from turning their league position around.
