Richardson bowling spell edges Australia closer to the whitewash

AUSTRALIA WIN BY 25 RUNS – AUSTRALIA LEAD THE SERIES 4-0

An opening stand between Aaron Finch and David Warner, coupled with a fine bowling spell from Kane Richardson helped Australia take a 4-0 lead in their one day series against India in Canberra. For the first time this series Australia batted first and Finch and Warner put on 187 for the first wicket with Finch adding another century with 107 and Warner hitting 93. Steady contributions from Steven Smith with 51 and Glenn Maxwell with 47 added to the runs allowing Australia to post a total of 348. Ishant Sharma was the best of India’s bowlers taking four wickets but was expensive going for 77 runs in his 10 overs.

In reply Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli both put centuries on the board to keep the Indians in the run chase early on. It was Kane Richardson who broke the partnership getting Kohli caught on 106 and Dhawan went soon after for 126. The remainder of the Indian batting line up collapsed including a duck for captain MS Dohni as Richardson took five wickets coasting through the lower Indian order who lost their last six wickets for a mere 45 runs. Mitchell Marsh took the final wicket to see Australia home to s 25 run victory and take a 4-0 lead in the series with one game to go.
