Everton suffer the curse of the new manager

A fine display from Andre Ayew was pivitol to Swansea getting a win for their new manager Francesco Guidolin his first win against Everton at Goodison Park. Ayew picked off John Stones poor back pass and drew a foul from keeper Tim Howard to win Swansea a penalty which Icelandic midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson put away to give the Welsh side the lead. Everton equalised from a corner, Gareth Barry flicked on Gerard Deulofeu’s ball in and Jack Cork deflected it into his own net.

The winner came in on 33 minutes with Neil Taylor setting up Ayew to give Swansea the lead again with a left foot strike. Romelu Lukaku had a chance to put Everton level again within a minute but put his shot wide. Everton pushed for an equaliser in the second half and Stones had a chance to make amends with a free header from a Leighton Baines corner but put it wide in a bad day for the highly rated defender. The win puts Swansea four points clear of the drop zone, Everton remain in mid-table in 12th place with just one win in ten league games.
