ODI Game 5 – Ireland v Afghanistan

Ed Joyce’s second century of the series, hitting 160 not out including 4 sixes allowed Ireland to set a total Afghanistan could not reach and ensure this entertaining five day series ended level at 2-2. Gary Wilson supported with 58 to put a score of 265 on the board. Najibullah Zadran was the key man for Afghanistan batting well after a poor show from the top order and when his wicket was taken by Kevin O’Brien who kept the pressure on with 3 wickets in the innings, the visitors were then struggling to keep up with the run rate and fell 12 runs short of securing an historic away series win. The 2-2 draw was probably a fair reflection of the series
