Frenchman Gael Monfils rallied to defeat in from Ivo Karlovic to win the Washington Open. Karlovic was a set up and served for the match at 5-4 but Monfils broke and never looked back, breaking again to level at one set all and going on to take the decider 6-4 to win his first ATP title of the season.

10 years on from being beaten by Richard Gasquet, Spaniard Feliciano Lopez finally landed the Swiss Open title against Robin Haase. It was Lopez 5th ATP tour title taking the match in straight sets. He broke in the fifth game of the first set and came back from 0-3 in the second to go on and take his first title since June 2014.

Elsewhere there was an Italian double as Paolo Lorenzi won his first ever title beating  Nikoloz Basilashavili of Georgia 6-3 6-4 in straight sets in the final of the Austrian Open. Also Fabio Fognini won his first ATP tour event since 2013 comfortably beating Andrej Martin of Slovakia 6-4 6-1 to win the Coratian Open title.
