NRL Round 20
12 points from Jamie Lyon including four goals and a try helped Manly to victory over South Sydney to complete Round 20 of the NRL. Manly led 18-0 at the break after a superb first half and held on in the second half to condemn South Syndey to a seventh straight defeat meaning the Rabbitohs cannot qualify for the finals series.
Super League Round 23
A hat trick of tries from Gene Ormsby for Huddersfield was in vain in a tight contest against Warrington who eventually won it with a try from Darryl Clark four minutes from time to seal a tight 34-30 win. Huddersfield will drop to the qualifiers to try and retain their Super League place next season.
Corey Thompson and Stefan Marsh got a try each and both kicked three goals as Widnes thrashed the Catalan Dragons 32-4. Both sides have qualified for the Super 8’s. Greg Minikin opened the scoring and got two of Castleford’s eight tires in their 46-20 demolition of Wakefield. Again both of these sides have qualified for the Super 8 series to determine which four sides will make the end of season play offs. The points already won will be carried over but the bottom four sides drop to their own qualifiers league with the four top Championship sides.
