Italian Grand Prix

A poor start from Lewis Hamilton allowed Nico Rosberg to take advantage and take a lead he would not squander to win the Italian Grand Prix at Monza. Hamilton dropped to sixth by the first corner, he gradually fought back into second but was too far off the pace to challenge Rosberg, who cuts the Championship lead to just two points. The Ferrari’s had a good weekend on Italian turf finishing third and fourth with Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen respectively beating the Red Bull challenge of Daniel Ricciardo in fifth. Valtteri Bottas in the Williams was in sixth. The title race is now effectively neck and neck and the win may swing the momentum back to Rosberg.
