FA Cup Round 3 – Liverpool v Plymouth
Lack of imagination sees Liverpool fail to breakthrough – Liverpool 0-0 Plymouth
Liverpool has 80% of the possession at Anfield but a side including five teenagers lacked the imagination to break down the solid defence of Plymouth Argyle who, while showing no ambition themselves, will be delighted to get a reply. Liverpool had virtually all of the ball but the Plymouth keeper barely had to make a save as the final ball and cross showed no end product time and time again. Albert Moreno who took almost ever set piece failed to produce a single good delivery in a particularly poor display. The only positive was a solid showing by Kevin Stewart who was good on the ball and swept up anything defensively on the odd occasion Plymouth did venture forward. The replay will be another game Liverpool don’t need, but they only have themselves to blame.
