AFC Divisional Play Off Game – Houston @ New England
Dion Lewis triple crown sees New England into another Championship game
Dion Lewis scored three touchdowns in three different ways, a reception, a rushing touchdown and a kick return for 98 yards to lift New England into the AFC Championship game by beating Houston 34-16 at Foxborough Stadium. Lewis reception was the first touchdown but Houston kept it close in the first half only going in four points behind. However when Tom Brady hit James White early in the second half there was then no looking back with Lewis’ rushing touchdown sealing the contest. Brady and Lewis were backed up by the defence who intercepted Houston Quarterback Brock Osweiler three times. New England will have home advantage in the AFC Championship game regardless of who wins the other AFC game between Kansas City and Pittsburgh.
AFC Divisional Play Off Game – Seattle @ Atlanta
Ryan leads Falcons past Seattle
Matt Ryan gave an all round MVP performance to help lead Atlanta to a 36-20 victory over Seattle. Ryan threw for 338 yards and three touchdowns as 19 unanswered 2nd Quarter points broke the Seahwawks ensuring Atlanta went in with a comfortable lead at half time. The defence did their bit too intercepting Russell Wilson twice and restricting Thomas Ralws, last weeks hero for Seattle, to just 34 rushing yards. Wilson threw for 225 yards and did not have a bad game but could not keep up with Atlanta’s high octane offence.Atlanta will now either go to Dallas, or will be at home to Green Bay in the NFC Championship game.
