Auckland Open Final – Sock v Sousa
Sock claims second ATP title in Auckland
Jack Sock was able to put behind him the pain of having to retire from last years final in Auckland by winning this years title by beating Joao Sousa in an entertaining three set final. Sock broke in the seventh game of the first set and then served it out to take it 6-3. After a break a piece early in the second Sousa struck the key blow at 5-5 breaking and then serving out the second set with a second serve ace to level. Sousa broke in the third game of the decider but Sock hit straight back and went on to brake again to take the final set 6-3. It is Sock’s second title and first for over twelve months.

Sydney International Final – Muller v Evans
Muller makes history for Luxembourg with first ATP title
Gilles Muller has finally won an ATP Tour event in his sixth final and made history as the first male from Luxembourg to win an ATP Tour event. Muller was taken all the way in the first set by Dan Evans, in his first ATP title but Muller got a key mini break to take the tie break 7-5. He then went on to break Evans twice in the second set to coast home 6-2. The win will move him into the top 30. It is the first Luxembourg triumph in either the men’s or woman’s main tour since Claudine Shaul won the Strasbourg Open in 2004.
