Premier League – Liverpool v Swansea

losekop

Poor defending costs Liverpool dear

Liverpool have lost critical ground in the title race which now may well be beyond them after a shock 3-2 defeat at home to Swansea. After a first half of dogged Swansea defending the visitors took advantage of poor Reds defending as Fernando Llorente was sharpest to score from close range after a scramble following a corner. An excellent Llorente header made it two after a counter attack. Liverpool did up their game for a while with Roberto Firmino scoring twice to level, but with Liverpool looking for the winner Tom Carroll countered and the Liverpool defence just let him run, the ball eventually ran into the path of an open Gylfi Sigurdsson to score the winner. Swansea move out of the bottom three with the win while Liverpool will fall further behind Chelsea f as expected they beat Hull tomorrow. Without Sadio Mane who is at the Africa Cup of Nations there is a clear lack of movement up front which is making Liverpool easier to defend against, it is costing them right now.
