1ST ODI AT KINGSMEAD, DURBAN, SOUTH AFRICA

South Africa 269-8 (50) (Du Plessis 120 Yadav 3-34)

India 270-4 (45.3) (Kohli 112 Rahane 79)

INDIA WIN BY 6 WICKETS

INDIA LEAD THE SERIES 1-0

India took the first game of the six match one day series in Durban. The hosts batted first and had Faf du Plessis to thank for the fact they had any total of note on the board. du Plessis hit 2 sixes in his 120 but received little back up as South Africa scored 269 for 8 off their 50 overs.

South Africa took a couple of early wickets but the partnership of 189 between Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane blew the game wide open and put India in control. When Rahane finally fell for 79 it was far too late for India. Kohli was eventually out for 112 with his 33rd One day century. It left Hardijk Pandya and MS Doni to score the final runs and secure a 6 Wicket victory for India.

2ND TEST MATCH AT CENTURION PARK, GAUTENG, SOUTH AFRICA

South Africa 335 (Markram 94 Amla 82 du Plessis 63 Ashwin 4-113) & 258 (de Villiers 80 Elgar 61 Shami 4-49)

India 307 (Kohli 153 Morkle 4-60) & 151 (Ngidi 6-39)

SOUTH AFRICA WIN BY 135 RUNS

SOUTH AFRICA LEAD THE SERIES 2-0

The bowling of Lungisani Ngidi was the difference for South Africa as the claimed series victory over India with a game to spare at Centurion Park. The first innings was fairly even. Aiden Makram (94) and Hashim Amla (82) top scored in South Africa’s 335. India fell just short in reply with 307 led by a superb 153 by captain Virat Kohli. South Africa then sent the visitors 286 to win as AB de Villiers with 80 was the top scorer in the hosts second innings.

In search of victory India got off to a bad start and when Kagiso Rabada got Kohli out India were struggling at 26-3 with their most likely man to lead them to victory gone. From there Ngidi took over taking 6 second innings wickets as scoreboard pressure led to Indian mistakes. Fittingly Ngidi took the final wicket to complete a 135 run win and an impressive series victory over a very good Indian side.

Kohli and Jadhav set up India in monster run chase

India completed a huge chase of 350 to take the first ODI against England in Pune. England may have thought they had a winning score on the board with Jason Roy Joe Root and Ben Stokes all making half centuries. However the fact nobody went on to make a hundred ultimately left them short. In reply Virat Kohli hit his 27th ODI hundred with 5 sixes and Kedar Jadhav hit 120 scoring his half century off only 29 balls to put India in contention. England did not take enough wickets and Handik Pandya with 40 not out was there at the end to finish off what Kohli and Jadhav had set up, hitting a six to win it with 11 balls to spare and continue India’s run as England are yet to beat India at any level on tour so far.
