Super League Round 2

Champions Leeds Rhinos made it two wins from two as Jimmy Keinhorst grabbed a Hat-Trick of tries in a 20-11 win over Hull Kingston Rovers. 8 points from the boot of Danny Brough aided Huddersfield to their first win of the season with a 20-6 win over Warrington. The Giants scored three tries on the night through Dale Ferguson, Darnell McIntosh and Jordan Turner in a game they dominated throughout.

Wakefield Trinity and ST Helens have both maintained perfect starts. Salford actually outscored Wakefield three tries to two but Liam Finn’s three goals kept Wakefield ahead. Kris Welham scored a Salford try at the death to cut the deficit to 14-12 but as all night, Gareth O’Brien missed the conversion and chance to level the score handing Wakefield the win. ST Helens win over Catalan was more straight forward, tries from Jonny Lomax and Regan Grace gave the Saints a 12-0 lead at halftime which they held eventually running out 21-12 winners with Danny Robertson getting 9 points with the boot.

Wigan Warriors are also off to the perfect start with a 24-10 win over Hull including two tries for Liam Marshall. After a close first half Wigan took control in the second not conceding a point while adding two more tries. The final game between Castleford and Widnes was the closest. Each side scored two tries but a Luke Gale drop goal proved the difference handing the Tigers a 13-12 victory.

Super League Super 8’s – Round 1

ST Helens extended their winning streak to six with an impressive win to deny Warrington the chance of going top as the Super 8’s round kicked off. Tries from Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook, Johnny Lomax and Jordan Turner helped Saints to a 20-12 lead. A late try from Ryan Atkins gave Warrington hope but it was not enough. Hull could not take advantage top extend their lead at the top as Castleford produced a brilliant first half to take a 20-0 lead at the break and went on to win 30-16 with six tries including two from Ryan Hampshire and a 10 points including a try from Luke Gale.

Wigan recovered from their disappointing Challenge Cup Semi-Final loss with an eleven try demolition of Wakefield. George Williams and Sam Tomkins both went over twice in an easy 60-12 win to get their Super eight challenge off to a perfect start. The final game of the weekend saw a hat trick for Fouad Yaha as the Catalan Dragons comfortably saw off Widnes in a strong showing and excellent defence in their game in France. The Dragons ran out winners 26-10.
