DUBAI TRI SERIES GAME 6 AT THE ICC ACADEMY, DUBAI, UAE

Scotland 299/9 (50) (Berrington 90 Coetzer 75 Naveed 3-47)

UAE 300/6 (49.1) (Shahzad 121* Ahmed 92)

UAE WIN BY 4 WICKETS

The hosts UAE finally got a win in their home Tri Series in the final game against Scotland. The Scots set the home side a challenging target. Richie Berrington hit a fine 90 including 2 sizes and opener Kyle Coetzer got 75 as Scotland got up to 299 in their 50 overs. A score normally good enough to win at this level.

The pitch dd not deteriorate for batting however and the UAE took advantage to make it an exciting contest. Opener Asfiq Ahmed hit 3 sixes in his 92 falling just short of a century. The star though was Rameez Shahzad who got a century and was the key to the UAE claiming victory. He did what he needed to do staying until the end and hitting the winning runs with 5 balls to spare. Shahzad ended 121 Not Out as the hosts celebrated a rare victory.

Ireland had already won the tournament with four wins out of four, but this win is a boost for the UAE going into the World Cup Qualifiers which will be a tough ask for both the UAE and Scotland due to the reduction in second tier nations getting places at the World Cup. Ireland will be among the favourites to claim a World Cup place.
